Acceptable Proof of Date of Birth Documents

Marriage registration certificates are no longer required.

The government changed several passport regulations in order to simplify the procedure, and new passport regulations were published in December 2016.
Previously, applicants who were married had to show a marriage certificate as a proof that they have a Court Marriage In Gurgaon. With the new regulations, people applying for passports who are separated from their spouses or who have recently divorced need not present their marriage certificate or divorce decree. Additionally, the applicant is not required to name the previous spouse in the application.

Additional Rules Changes Regarding Passports
  • A birth certificate is necessary: Earlier, the registration process was not complete without the submission of the birth certificate. The applicants who were born on or before January 1, 1989, were subject to these regulations. The birth certificate is now recognized as valid identification and this condition is no longer necessary. In order to prove their date of birth, applicants can now use any of the following documents: a birth certificate, an Aadhaar card, a PAN card, a transfer or school leaving certificate, or a matriculation certificate with DOB.
  • A single parent or legal guardian's name: Now, if the applicant chooses, he or she need only provide information for one parent or legal guardian. In response to this desire, a special committee was formed to look into the problems affecting both adopted children and children with single parents.
Validity of a Marriage Certificate

A passport application requires information about the applicant, such as their name, age, marital status, address, etc. Even if the information is based on what is written on the passport application form, there are occasional inconsistencies.   • If a passport applicant wants to change their name after getting married, they must "Re-Apply" and download Form No. II for Miscellaneous Services from the Passport Seva Kendra or online.
  • The following documents must be submitted with this fully completed form:
  1. The original passport and a copy of the first and last two pages that has been attested
  2. A joint affidavit from the couple, accompanied with joint photos, and an attested copy of the marriage certificate.
  3. Proof of address
  • The aforementioned should be submitted online, after making an appointment at the Passport Seva Kendra, or both.
  • After the necessary alterations have been made, the applicant will get direct delivery of the new passport
